Two Chefs Pizza has been family owned and operated by George and his wife, Dimitra since 1984.

George and Dimitra both grew up in neighboring villages just outside of Monemvasia, Laconia in southern Greece. Growing up, they both helped with the harvest of their family’s olive tree groves, hand-picking and pressing olives to make olive oil. As a teen, George moved to the city of Athens and worked at a coffee house located inside the Old Royal Palace which is now home to the Hellenic Parliament of Greece. He had the privilege to serve the then Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. Konstantinos G Karamanlis as well as the likes of Aristotle Onassis, Stavros Niarchos, Yiannis Latsis and many others.

After going on to serve in the Greek military, George later began cooking on luxury cruise ships giving him the opportunity to travel the world. Eventually, George moved to New York in the early 70’s where he was a chef at some classic Greek-style diners. He later moved to Washington, D.C. where Dimitra joined him and they opened their first restaurant called, The Greek Village located in the Dupont Circle area. After a few years, they decided to move back to Greece but didn’t stay away from the U.S. for too long because they eventually made their way back where Virginia became home and they began operating Two Chefs Pizza in Arlington in 1984.

Two Chefs Pizza started out as a small pizza and sub shop with just a few tables and a large countertop overlooking the kitchen where guests sat on red metallic barstools enjoying their meal and chatting with the chefs. With a vision to bring the Mediterranean flavors that George and Dimitra enjoyed while growing up in Greece, they wanted to expand the menu options to more than just pizza and subs. So, in 1995, the restaurant grew to add a larger kitchen and dining room giving them the chance to add more dishes to the menu. Today, Two Chefs Pizza serves traditional Greek recipes, along with American favorites and classic Italian dishes in a family-style atmosphere.
